MP4 is a multimedia type that supports both video and audio files. It is also called MPEG-4, while its full name is MPEG-4 part 14. Regarding its technical features, the frame rate (for a custom file format) is located at 25 Fps, while the bit rate is 1536 Kbps. When it comes to the HD version, the bitrate is set to 6000 kbps, and the screen ratio is preset to 4: 3.
MPEG-4 part 14 files have the following peculiarities, which make them irreplaceable: They can support many types of multimedia such as video, audio, subtitles, and images as well as live streaming via the internet. All this the mp4 format can provide in excellent quality with relatively low file size.
The discovery and use of mp4 files is later, compared to the mp3 ones. More precisely, they came to the fore, in 2001, for the first time, as an ISO/IEC 14496-1: 2001 standard, which was 2 years later replaced by ISO/IEC 14496-14: 2003.
